With the release of his debut album, The Tidy Cottage, Irish flute player Turlach Boylan has created a welcome addition to the annals of traditional music. The measured pace and contagious beat permeating this recording convey the joy and pleasure that marks Irish music for both musician and listener.

This is an international effort, featuring musicians from both Ireland and The United States. He is joined by his sister Sheila on fiddle, brother Ruairi on an exceptional double flute track and by such luminaries as Colleen Donahue of Tir na nOg, Gerry O'Beirne, formerly of Patrick Street and The Sharon Shannon Band, and by Dave Peters, the only three-time US national mandolin champion.

Turlach's music has a graceful relaxed style buoyed by an insistent infectious rhythm. After several years learning various instruments, he learned to play flute as a teenager from the renowned County Antrim master John Kennedy. When you listen to this album you will hear the same lilting lift and love for the music passed on in those lessons.
