Chulrua - Oct 13 & 16th
Our friends, the great musicians in Chulrua left
it too late to book a regular gig in Houston during this
tour so a few people banded together and drummed
something up for them.
On Oct 13th there is a ceili at Garden in the Heights.For more information read the press release here. On October 16th they will play a concert in Clear Lake. Details here.
Album release party - June 15, 1999
The
Tidy Cottage by Turlach Boylan (BP3202) was
released at McGonigel's Mucky Duck. In addition to
Turlach on flute, the featured musicians were Therese Honey (of Wyndnwyre
and Honey on the Harp) on harp, and Mike Dugger of Sunrush and Scartaglen
on fiddle. There were guest appearances by Bill Thurman,
Terrence Karn, Rex Shaver, Eden Macadam-Somer, Larry
Mallette and many of the local session musicians.

The first big plain concert took place on January 5th 1999 at Fitzgerald's club in Houston. (Concert Scrapbook)
Featured musicians were Colleen Donahue(cittern), Sheila Boylan(fiddle), Ruairi Boylan(flute) and Turlach Boylan(flute). All these musicians are featured on the susequent release by big plain records of a solo flute album by Turlach Boylan. Sheila and Ruairi are members of the Gleann an Iolair Ceili Band whose album of music for Irish Set Dancing, The Derry Boat, is available in the USA from big plain records and online at www.bandstore.com.
