Intermediate and advanced fiddlers interested in learning more about techniques and styles in Irish Music

This is her first visit by Sheila Boylan to the US and big plain records has taken advantage of the opportunity to arrange this workshop. Anyone interested in learning more about Irish music, especially fiddle players should attend this workshop.

Since placing 2nd in the Senior All-Ireland fiddle competition in 1990, Sheila has been seen and heard playing music all over the world. With the Belfast-based folk group Heritage she regularly plays in Europe, in places as diverse as Norway, Holland, Oman, Slovenia and Austria. In 1997 she was invited to The Philippines to play in Manila with Planxty O’Rourke. She has also played with them in Italy, France and Germany and appeared on RTE Irish television.

She has taught private fiddle lessons for more than a decade and also adjudicated at several Music festivals in Ireland.

Sheila has appeared on recordings by Heritage, Planxty O’Rourke and the County Derry-based Gleann an Iolair Ceili Band. Some of these recordings will be available for purchase after the workshop.

This workshop is the first in a series that will provide the Houston Celtic community with access and exposure to some of the many exceptional players in Irish music. big plain records is committed to providing resources for South Texas musicians to increase their skill and enjoyment in Irish traditional music.
